Phoenix Project #1902
Due to growing electric demand in eastern Massachusetts, Eversource is continually making upgrades to their many substations. This project is part of the Mystic-East Eagle-Chelsea Reliability Project, which includes upgrades to the Mystic and Chelsea Substations, as well as adding a new substation on East Eagle St in East Boston.
Phoenix installed a total of 46 helical piles to a design depth of 30 feet, which would support foundations for a new security fence. As subsurface obstructions were anticipated at many pile locations, the site contractor performed pre-excavation in advance of the pile installations to avoid more costly delays after the pile work had begun.
