PROJECT OVERVIEW
Phoenix Project #2216
During some exploratory test pits to investigate floor slab cracking inside an active manufacturing space, several voids were detected below the slab and around several existing load-bearing columns. The most economical solution was to install helical piles around the existing columns and foundation walls to prevent any future settlement from occurring.
Using compact equipment to work inside the existing building, Phoenix installed a total of 30 helical piles to a design depth of 25 feet. Soon after the work started, numerous obstructions were encountered which prevented the helical piles from achieving the required installation torque and design termination depths. Working closely with the construction and design teams, we were able to promptly relocate piles in these areas in order to keep the original contract schedule intact and avoid costly delays.
