Helical piles and anchors are steel shafts that are screwed into the ground using helical plates welded to the shaft. Like drilling a screw into wood, a torque motor advances the shaft into the ground until the required resistance is reached. Helical piles don’t require specialized drill rigs and can be installed rapidly and in restricted access conditions. Through advancements in helical pile design and installation techniques, much higher working capacities can now be achieved, resulting in cost and schedule savings.
