Steven M. Hinterneder, P.E. is a geotechnical and geostructural (civil) engineer with 30 years of experience working for specialty contractors engaging in excavation support systems, deep foundations, ground improvement and geothermal drilling.
Currently, Steve serves as a Project Executive at Phoenix Foundation Company, Inc., where he oversees the management of all geothermal scopes of work. Additionally, he performs business development for many of the core scopes of work, including secant piles.
He specializes in business development, management, construction, safety and design and has worked on over 300 projects throughout New England and New York including Mary Ellen McCormack campus renovation (geothermal), Boston, MA; 115 Federal Street Tower (diaphragm walls), Boston, MA; Baystate Medical Center (permanent retaining walls), Springfield, MA; Musuem of Fine Arts (soil mixing and jet grouting), Boston, MA; Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute EMPAC (permanent tiebacks), Troy, NY; Brigham Green Garage (permanent secant piles), Boston, MA; Maine Medical Center (permanent retaining wall), Portland, ME and Fletcher Allen Health Care (soldier piles and tiebacks), Burlington, VT.
He is passionate about creating solutions for our clients on complex projects, fostering development of young professionals, and enjoys collaborating with others to create best value opportunities wherever possible. He is involved with many industry associations including the Foundation and Marine Contractors Association and the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association.
Outside of work, Steve enjoys being a board director with the Franklin Park and Stone Zoos, traveling and visiting zoos and aquariums with his wife and playing poker and volleyball.
