Our Scope of Work

Phoenix’s geothermal division provides all Union labor, equipment, and materials necessary to drill, install, and grout geothermal boreholes in accordance with project design documents and specifications prepared by others. Our work typically includes:

  • Drilling of vertical/inclined geothermal boreholes to the specified diameter and depth
  • Furnishing and installing high-density polyethylene (HDPE) geothermal loops
  • Pressure testing of each loop prior to installation
  • Furnishing and placing thermally enhanced grout to maximize heat transfer
  • Supervision by a state-licensed Certified Well Driller
  • Thermal conductivity testing and quality assurance documentation

Phoenix is equipped to drill through overburden soils and bedrock using open-hole and cased-hole methods. Boreholes are advanced with water or air flushing to remove cuttings and ensure clean installations. Permanent or temporary steel casing is installed through the overburden as required and joined with threaded or welded joints to withstand drilling forces.
